The Most Popular Kitchen Sinks

Love to cook? You need the right kitchen sink to create the best space for both prep and clean up. Kitchen sinks come in a variety of sizes, shapes and materials.

The most popular material by far is stainless steel due to its low cost and low maintenance. Other popular sink materials include porcelain, granite composite, cast iron and fireclay. Some unique materials include copper, bamboo, granite and marble.

There are various types of kitchen sinks. Most styles are offered in either a single or double basin. See the list below for some of the most popular styles.

  • Prep Sink

Adding a prep sink to your island offers an additional place to prepare, cook and clean up as well as allowing a second cook in the kitchen.

  • Farmhouse Sink

A farmhouse sink typically has a large single basin. It adds an element of rustic, country style to your kitchen with a large area to work. It has become our most requested sink style when renovating a kitchen.

  • Undermount Sink

An undermount sink sits below the counter top and offers a seamless look. This allows for a quick clean up by easily wiping crumbs, dirt or liquids directly into the sink.

  • Drop In Sink

The drop in sink is probably the easiest to install because it literally “drops in” to the counter top to create a seal between the sink and the counter top.

  • Trough Sink

The trough sink is typically an extra large rectangular sink. Some trough sinks have wire racks, colanders,  prep bowls or cutting boards that are removable and slide up and down the length of the sink.

Who knew there were so many options when selecting a kitchen sink!
